General Summary Reporting to the Director, Rigid Packaging
Procurement, the Senior Buyer, Rigid Packaging Procurement is
responsible for overseeing the procurement of rigid plastic and/or
metal packaging for all Campbell locations. This role
responsibility includes working closely with key suppliers to gain
maximum value during the contract period; planning, formulating,
guiding, driving, and monitoring implementation of category
management strategies for all Campbell locations in a designated
region; ensuring quality of materials, competitive pricing,
adherence to company policies, procurement processes and endeavors
related to the operation of a proactive and strategic Global
Procurement Business Unit. The individual will be expected to
deliver Procurement's financial and process goals and objectives
while driving strategic alignment and developing strong
partnerships with our internal business unit's leadership and
strategic external partners. Strong leadership on both developing
and implementing the strategic direction of the portfolio, in
addition, to influencing skills both cross functionally and
regionally are essential for this position. This person will be
responsible for working closely with the cross-functional teams to
manage and implement all projects across the network. They will be
responsible for coordinating all sourcing and contracting directly,
and indirectly through the Packaging category leads and the Brand,
R&D, Innovation, Quality, Operation, and Supply Chain teams.
Primary Responsibilities
- Plan, formulate, guide, drive and monitor implementation of
category management strategies and activities for all key spend
categories within the role.
- Support Strategic Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)
programs that focus on quality, productivity and innovation which
drive synergies with top tier suppliers.
- Work to Influence cross functional stakeholders to align and
make decisions that impact category and/or business unit(s) and/or
functions (R&D, Fin, QA) both within and outside areas of
accountability
- Identify and work to deliver enhancements that result in
tangible benefits to the bottom line based on sound knowledge and
analysis of internal and external market analysis.
- Emerging skills in negotiation and expertise across multiple
categories & suppliers
- Oversee and guide design and construction of category-specific
road maps for institutionalizing category management focus
(actions, timing, resources, dependencies, etc.).
- Cultivate tracking and monitoring of supplier markets for key
categories during the duration of contracts (including benchmarking
against industry/market standards.)
- Evaluate strategies based on changing market conditions and
provide input during strategic sourcing activities, including
internal and external analysis and negotiations.
- Effectively communicate market dynamics to business unit
leaders ensuring alignment of category strategies. Job Complexities
- Ability to interact with team members at all levels in the
organization, as well as senior leadership across multiple
functions in a matrixed environment. The individual must have the
ability to influence the direction of the business and align and
engage resources that are outside of their area of
responsibility.
- Demonstrate strategic thought leadership in moving Procurement
strategies forward with respect to direct categories.
- Work without direction and determine own methods to accomplish
work.
- High frequency of interaction with external suppliers and
business partners.
- Travel (15% - 20%) as required to perform duties. Minimum
Requirements Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of procurement and / or related supply chain /
CPG industry experience required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred
- Strong leadership, facilitation, motivation, and interpersonal
skills, with a proven ability to lead and execute change
management.
- Experience in a cross company and/or cross matrix environment
managing large complex projects strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated self-starter, imaginative/innovator, and able to
set executive direction.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, decision making /
problem solving skills, and influencing and team building
skills.
- Strategic and analytical thinker.
- Strong experience in procurement related and/or finance and
