The COO will be the second-in-command, and responsible for the organization's efficiency, and drive extensive and sustainable growth. Primary objectives include establishing and expanding the organization's business strategy; establishing the infrastructure, controls, and operational processes to run the organization; enhancing employee growth and development initiatives; and measuring and improving business, team, and individual performance using metrics. Reporting to the Executive Director, this candidate must have an established background in coordinating and managing the operations of an organization.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree or a background in finance, with a minimum of eight years of operations experience, preferably with a youth and or young adult nonprofit center. In helping LUCY fulfill its mission, the COO will provide operations support to facilitate the organization and success of the youth center through streamlined business processes. -HOURS - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -This is a full time, exempt position, which will require varying hours in order to accomplish the goals and deliverables of the position. Hours will depend on time of year, and organization's events, projects and grant/audit deadlines. Hours may include evenings and weekends.*This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, and work-week flexibility. -REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE--- - - - - -Master's degree, background in finance or CPA preferred, and a minimum of eight years of full-time, non-profit leadership experience and success- in managing and/or leading organizations or large-scale transformations, programs and/or projects, human resource operations, financial operations, and strategy operations preferred--- - - - - -Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile PMP, Nonprofit Management certification or related training recommended -REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES--- - - - - -Believe in LUCY's mission, and be able to openly model its values--- - - - - -High Proficiency with Microsoft Officeo - -Word processing (Microsoft Word & Google Docs)o - -Spreadsheets (Excel & Google Sheets)o - -Presentations (PowerPoint & Google Slides)--- - - - - -Google Business Suite productso - -Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Forms, Docs, Sheets, and Slides--- - - - - -Experience with and knowledge of CRMs, Salesforce and Quikbooks--- - - - - -Ability to understand financial reports and principles & ability to manage and track grant funds, an established budget, and oversee organization's annual audit--- - - - - -Proven ability to collaborate, support and train staff, interns, leadership, and board members--- - - - - -Able to exercise initiative and judgment as an independent worker--- - - - - -Time management & task prioritization, and flexibility with new job duties as they arise--- - - - - -Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in setting up & maintaining office systems & documents--- - - - - -Superb written, verbal, and interpersonal skills--- - - - - -Be committed to trauma-informed care practices--- - - - - -Experience with the Camden community or a similar urban environment is a plus -KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -General office administrative and accounting tasks include but are not limited to:--- - - - - -Set the strategy and vision for the company, in collaboration with Executive Director--- - - - - -Design reporting structures and operational controls, including establishing management, operational and administrative processes and procedures, in collaboration with the Executive Director--- - - - - -Drive communications and change initiatives, and foster collaboration among the executive team and all employees, and build a meaningful, lasting culture where the company's core values are carried out daily by its employees and recognized by its leaders--- - - - - -Manage and oversee the organizations financials and budget, including but not limited to: financial records keeping, including bank deposits, meeting with bookkeeper, maintaining and processing invoices & bill payment, and manage relationship with outsourced bookkeeping firm (Bookminders) and auditor--- - - - - -Support and assist Executive Director with day-to-day tasks and projects--- - - - - -Support and assist Development Director and Program Director with management and reporting of grant funds and preparation of budgets--- - - - - -Supervise and support operations staff and interns--- - - - - -Oversight of the management of accounts & vendors--- - - - - -Oversight of Salesforce development and utilization--- - - - - -Collaboration with Insperity for HR tasks and inquiries included but not limited to employee benefits, employee concerns, submission of timesheets, requesting sick, personal & vacation days--- - - - - -Maintenance and oversight of LUCY buildings and vehicles--- - - - - -Attend staff meetings, in-service trainings and participate in performance evaluations of this position as directed by the Executive Director--- - - - - -Provide weekly update reports to Executive Director--- - - - - -Perform other duties as requested -CLEARANCES TO WORK WITH YOUTHAll staff are required to be fingerprinted, background checked, and attend a Child Assault Prevention training prior to employment. -SALARY/BENEFITSEmployee Benefits (include, but are not limited to):--- - - - - -Competitive salary, based on experience--- - - - - -Excellent benefits including: unlimited PTO, flexible working hours and the opportunity for hybrid work, 403b with a 3% organization match, and excellent health coverage--- - - - - -Professional development opportunities and memberships--- - - - - -A great nonprofit workplace culture, and opportunity for growth within the organization -*Flexible working hours are intended to provide additional flexibility and support to the COO.
