Primary Role

The ID&E Business Partner will play a pivotal role in advancing American Water's commitment to ID&E. Working closely with the Director of ID&E, this role involves spearheading various initiatives, supporting communications efforts, building resources, overseeing EBRGs, responding and benchmarking to external surveys, and providing support on special projects.

Key Accountabilities

  • Partner with the Director of ID&E and Chief ID&E Officer on strategic initiatives, processes and resources for the company in support of the overall ID&E strategic plan
  • Guide and partner with Employee Business Resource Groups(EBRGs) as a platform for career development, employee engagement and advancement of business objectives
  • Support the work of the ID&E Executive Council, Culture Champions & EBRGs
  • Collaborate with internal departments to promote initiatives to employees, leadership, partners and the community
  • Use external benchmarks to provide context to internal metrics and progress. Use analytical findings to shape recommendations, future program enhancements and initiatives.
  • Partner with Director of ID&E and communications teams to update, optimize, and increase engagement with internal SharePoint and mysource pages
  • Develop relationships of trust and mutual respect with a variety of internal and external partners
  • Assist in the design, develop, and facilitation of ID&E education, workshops, and training for all employees on content supportive of the ID&E strategy
  • In collaboration with the Director of ID&E, assess the effectiveness of programs and initiatives and partner with communications on messaging, packaging and delivery of ID&E information
  • Continuously enhance ID&E practices through providing insights that increase awareness of market/industry trends and sharing best practices to support an inclusive environment
  • Diagnose issues/needs and analyze data related to ID&E (surveys), build strong relationships, and partner with the business to foster a great place where everyone can do their best work
  • Complete surveys and use findings to inform strategic priorities

    Knowledge/Skills

    • Ability to articulate vision and direction, communicate effectively, manage and measure performance and accountability
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong ability to develop relationships with external and internal stakeholders
    • Strong survey experience and an ability to work with large sets of data and identify themes/trends
    • Executive presence and storytelling - Can develop strong presentations and deliver them to audiences at various levels

      Experience/Education

      • 5 years of professional experience in ID&E/HR/OD preferred or other relevant work experience
      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience

        Travel Requirements

        • Ability to travel up to 20%
