The following information aims to provide potential candidates with
a better understanding of the requirements for this role.
Berks Packing has an immediate need for an experienced Credit
Manager. Under the general direction of CFO, the Credit Manager is
a member of the Berks Packing management team who provides
strategic input, makes recommendations, and assists with
establishing strategic initiatives and policies. The Credit
Manager's primary responsibility is to oversee the credit-granting
process, ensure timely payment of outstanding balances and minimize
credit risk. The Credit Manager also oversees the strategic
implementation of sales promotional programs by establishing
processes to record, track, and report customer specific
performance to key stakeholders, so Company strategic initiatives
are reinforced. As a critical member of the Accounting Team, the
Credit Manager also assists with the Accounts Receivable and
Accounts Payable functions on an as need basis, so departmental
workflows are seamless.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Credit Responsibilities
Manages the analysis of creditworthiness of customers (both current
and prospective) including obtaining financial statements, rating
agency reports and other pertinent information as necessary.
Monitors daily reports from credit agencies and other industry
resources.
Determines credit levels and monitors extended credit to compliance
within approved credit limits. Resolves issues timely when Credit
issues interfere with order entry and/or shipments.
Oversees the collection function and establishes risk management
policies and procedures.
Strategic Responsibilities
In-depth knowledge of customer contracts, trade promotions, and
dispute resolution within a food manufacturing or consumer goods
environment.
Manages the processes of issuing credits and approving deductions,
ensuring accurate resolution and communication with customers,
brokers, and sales managers.
Facilitates collaborative efforts with cross-functional teams to
develop tracking and reporting of sales programs to support
Corporate strategic initiatives.
Works seamlessly with Sales and Executive Team to ensure strategic
initiatives are supported.
Works with Sales Managers and over-see sales program reporting and
develops maintaining a monthly accrual to assist in the month-end
financial close.
Validates and issues Customer credits and program payments,
processing in a timely manner.
Manages deductions, disputes, and seeks timely resolution.
Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable
Assist in managing the daily activities of the Accounts Receivable
and Accounts Payable functions, including the accurate and timely
billing and collection of cash receipts as well as timely posting
and payment of purchases and cash disbursements.
Supports the setup of both new Customers and Vendors, recommending
and managing credit limits.
TOOLS & TECHNOLOGY
Microsoft Office proficiency with emphasis on Excel. Internet
proficiency. Proficiency in Accounting Software. Familiarity with
ERP (Sage X3). Experience with lock box and other electronic
banking programs. Experience with customer portals.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or equivalent experience),
Finance, or Business Administration. 5+ years of related experience
in a manufacturing environment (Food manufacturing a plus),
including supervisory experience. Experience in a lean,
conservative, mid-sized manufacturing company, within the
Consumer-Packaged Goods industry preferred. Or any other equivalent
combination of education and experience.
