Job Description Job title : Hospital Care Investigator Job location : New York, NY 10037 Shift : 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Pay : $20-$27 /hr Contract : 2-month, possible extension Education: Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university; or High School diploma or its educational equivalent approved by the State Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization Four (4) years of full-time experience in interviewing, investigation, or a related field, such as credit and collection follow-up or bookkeeping Skills: Process paper and electronic claims in a timely manner Document patient and billing information accurately in computer systems Handle denials, rejections, pre-authorizations, and follow-ups Audit accounts, apply adjustments, and generate aging reports Provide billing customer service and arrange patient payment schedules Follow up on past-due accounts and escalate issues as needed Collaborate with departments and attend required training sessions Duties : A member of the revenue cycle process, billers are responsible for reviewing accounts, correcting claim edits, preparing and completing claims for submission to payers, posting all types of payments, and updating patient accounting systems. They will perform related functions in support of the Patient Financial Services operations and other duties, as assigned.
