Mechanical Engineer for Ship Physical Systems (SPS) group.
Candidate will be part of the Ship Integration and Test (SI&T)
team supporting Camden, NJ operations. The mechanical engineer will
support SPS engineering with the development and modification of
technical documentation in the support of tasking from NAVSEA, PEO
IWS, and MDA representatives. Assist in the Technical Data Package
(TDP) development process for US Navy new construction,
modernization, back fit, and AIT projects. Position will involve
interaction with LM Design engineering.
Specific engineering responsibilities include:
Candidate will develop the skills and requirements associated with
the development and maintenance of AEGIS combat system equipment
arrangement and interface drawings and other documentation for
shipbuilding contract packages; the review of vendor Installation
Control Drawings, the development of Technical Data Package
products, and the generation of as-built drawings. Candidate will
be assisting in the performance of critical engineering analyses
and the execution of equipment arrangement studies. Will support
the design of combat system arrangement models in 3-D CAD and
convert models into a simulation software package for virtual
prototyping. Will work with various CAD systems in converting
vendor and shipbuilder information into applicable formats for use
in design studies. Could possibly support shipchecks to determine
existing ship conditions; provide on-site engineering support
during installation and test of new equipment and systems.
Support current SPS engineers in the generation of technical data
change packages via AUTOCAD software program: ECNs, ECPs, etc. to
support system modifications and baseline upgrades.
Interfacing, both orally and written, with the Navy customer, PMOs,
vendors, and other Systems Engineering activities to define
shipboard and land based facility equipment arrangements a
must.
Candidate may be required to support limited, short term travel to
waterfront and/or land based locations.
Basic Qualifications:
BS Mechanical Engineering degree or a related discipline from
accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education
Experience with mechanical and/or systems integration; with
knowledge of USN surface ship combat system equipment and land site
simulators a plus
Strong initiative characteristics and interpersonal skills,
including potential to effectively prepare and give
presentations
Must be able to obtain & maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance,
which requires U.S. Citizenship
Desired Skills:
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Experience interfacing with Naval organizations and basic knowledge
of their functional structure a plus
Knowledge of USN surface ship combat system equipment and land site
simulators a plus
Basic understanding of the AEGIS Combat System (ACS) program
philosophies, including the Shipbuilders' role, the role of the
major equipment vendors of the ACS, and the role of the Land
Sites
Candidate must have the ability to work in a diverse team-oriented
environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software package
Experience with the utilization of AutoCAD software a plus
Candidate may be required to support periodic short duration
travel
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government
security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee
selected for this position will work part of their work schedule
remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed
Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed
during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate
work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our
employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day
work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules
provide employees with additional time away from the office and are
in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
