Operations Manager

Job Description:

The role of the Operations Manager is to plan, direct and coordinate the operations of the branch. The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies. At Airline Hydraulics, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the Service & Repair, Manufacturing, Production Planning, Warehousing, and Shipping & Receiving functions of the company's manufacturing location at the Ocean View, NJ facility as well as the safety program. Requires extensive experience in the field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Reports to the Manufacturing General Manager.

Coordination and Supervision - Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of various departments
Financial - Review financial statements and data. Utilize financial data to improve profitability. Prepare and control operational budgets. Control inventory. Plan effective strategies for the financial well-being of the branch
Best Practices - Improve processes and policies in support of organizational goals. Formulate and implement departmental and policies and procedures to maximize output. Monitor adherence to rules, regulations and procedures
Delegate tasks and accountabilities. Establish work schedules. Supervise staff. Monitor and evaluate performance
Production - Coordinate and monitor the work of various departments involved in production, warehousing, and distribution of goods. Monitor performance and implement improvements. Ensure quality of products. Manage quality and quantity of employee productivity. Manage maintenance of equipment and machinery. Provide technical support where necessary
Communication - Monitor, manage and improve the efficiency of support services of Manufacturing, Shipping & Receiving, and Warehouse. Facilitate coordination and communication between support functions and other departments in the company
Continue / accelerate conversion to Lean manufacturing practices
Develop indices and drive continuous improvement efforts in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, inventory and cost
Provide training, coaching, mentoring and daily leadership to develop a world class, industry-leading operations organization
Travel as needed to other Company locations, customer jobsites, training programs and industry events

Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Engineering or a related field preferred or a minimum of eight years of experience in a high volume operation with exposure to various manufacturing products and processes. A combination of education and experience will be considered
Experience and working knowledge of MRP business systems
Experience in project management is required
Experience and knowledge of Lean, 5S, Total Quality, ISO principles
Knowledge of planning, purchasing policies and procedures
Knowledge of warehouse movements and inventory control
Proficiency in MS Project, and MS Office, including Word and Excel
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, at all levels in the Organization
Travel overnight or for extended periods as needed
