We recognize that people with diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives fuel our growth and enrich our global culture.We are looking for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team oriented environment, likes to be challenged, and values the opportunity to make a difference.The Manufacturing Operational Excellence Senior Manager is accountable for partnering with key stakeholders, (hourly employees, plant leadership, and Snacks division leadership) to establish a sustainable Operational Excellence (OPEX) culture across the manufacturing sites and warehouses in his/her region. He/she will be the subject matter expert (SME) on optimization efforts and drive a continuous improvement and safety-focused mindset through employee engagement and the utilization of lean methodologies resulting in greater efficiency and cost savings.Primary responsibilities:

  • Savings - Identify opportunities, estimate cost savings, and drive value capture via quarterly focused improvement projects.
  • Daily Issue Resolution - Educate and coach employees on the performance management system which will allow the manufacturing teams to monitor/ win by the hour, the shift, the day of the week, the month and the year all tied in to company objectives. Ensure the effective application of problem-solving techniques from root cause analysis to the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Quarterly Improvement Project Cycles - Analyze weekly and monthly key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities for improvement. Prioritize projects / actions based upon business goals. Provide and or train on the right tools to improve on the specific issue or process. Drive consistency of application to ensure effectiveness in project execution.
  • Assets Reliability - Educate employees on methodologies and provide tools to achieve improvements to Assets Life Cycle and reduce risks.
  • Capability - Build waste elimination capabilities in the line management hierarchy by leading and implementing processes and procedures resulting in sustained improvements; utilize appropriate CI tools and embed the approach/usage into the site culture.
  • Sustainability - Implement the Operational Excellence Ways of Working holistically by identifying and addressing losses across the manufacturing sites, train and monitor accordingly.Job Complexity
    • Must overcome resistance to organizational change, and effectively lead initiatives by influencing both hourly and salaried employees to embrace change.
    • Develop and maintain positive, effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization to drive results.
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize based on business needs.
    • Educate, coach, and ensure application of problem solving and lean manufacturing skills/tools, including root cause analysis and 5-whys, PDCA, Six sigma, etc., and make them standard across the board
    • Effectively present complex lean manufacturing and operational excellence concepts to diverse groups at various levels in the organization.
    • Align and execute the plants' lean programs with those of the division and enterprise.
    • Must stay current with emerging lean concepts and methodologies; evaluate their application and make recommendations to senior management.
    • Continuously challenge the status quo as a change agent to drive a culture of excellence by influencing employees at all levels in the organization (from shop floor personnel to VP)Minimum education required:
      • Bachelors of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree
      • Education desired: Bachelors of Science degree in Organizational Development, Process Engineering, or a related field.
      • Years of relevant experience: Minimum of 5+ years of previous manufacturing experience with significant exposure to and/or leading OE/CI/change management efforts.Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
        • High competency in Lean manufacturing principles
        • Six Sigma methodology
        • Visual factory/5S programs
        • Strong business and financial acumen with demonstrated ability to establish and drive efforts to achieve personal, site, functional and enterprise strategy / goals
        • Demonstrated complex project management skills with past success of leading large-scale, continuous improvement/organizational change initiatives
        • Strong facilitation skills; experience with training development and deployment strongly desired
        • Excellent communication skills - demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (both verbally and written) complex information to multiple audiences by evaluating what level of detail/methods are appropriate for each audience
        • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment including past track record of engaging employees and maintaining positive, effective working relationships
        • Demonstrated success of driving for and achieving resultsWorking Conditions
          • The working environment includes both office and plant floor settings.
          • Exposure to industrial noise, forklift traffic, moving mechanical parts, and temperature extremes occurs in operating areas of the plant.
          • Expected travel 60%
