Urologic Oncologic Surgeon:
The Division of Urology in the Department of Surgery of the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper is seeking a fellowship-trained Urologic Oncologic Surgeon to join our dynamic academic practice at a time of unprecedented growth and development within the division. The candidate will be able to qualify for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level, commensurate with the level of experience.
The successful candidate should be a highly motivated individual with interests and capabilities in all aspects of Urologic Oncology. The faculty member will perform all elective, urgent, and emergent functions of the subspecialty, and provide surgical treatment for genitourinary pathology including major and minor procedures of the abdomen, pelvis, and retroperitoneum. The candidate should be facile in minimally invasive, robotic, and open surgical management of prostate, kidney, bladder, adrenal, testis, penile and ureteral cancer. Successful integration into the MD Anderson Multidisciplinary Genitourinary Oncology care model will require the highest professional standards of emotional maturity, dependability, communication, and positive constructive peer interactions in order to work closely with collaborating medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and all other supporting staff. Faculty fully integrate into the urology residency training program and serve as mentors and instructors to all Cooper Urology Residents and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University medical students. The thriving clinical and academic practice will be supported by integration into the MD Anderson Cancer Center Houston via adjunct faculty appointments, tumor board integration, and multidisciplinary care plan conferences. The successful candidate should have a thirst for scholarly academic pursuits, and opportunities for clinical and basic research are supported by the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, and our robust clinical trials program.
Preferred Experience: Board Certified or Board Eligible; Fellowship trained in Urologic Oncology (Society of Urologic Oncology), with expertise in robotic and minimally invasive surgery.
Our division currently has 5 full-time urologists, 1 part-time urologist, 2 physicians assistants, and 3 advanced practice providers. The division is growing rapidly and successfully, with expansion plans to hire additional general urology and female pelvic medicine urology faculty. All faculty are actively engaged in medical student teaching and resident training. We have a fully accredited 5 year urology residency program, and have just expanded to accept 2 resident trainees per year.
Cooper University Hospital, the clinical campus of the Cooper University of Rowan University, is the leading provider of health services to Southern New Jersey. Coopers main hospital is located in Camden, NJ, right across the river from Philadelphia. Cooper also has satellite offices in the surrounding suburbs, including Cherry Hill, Moorestown, Voorhees and Washington Township with a surgery center based in Voorhees. We are an official affiliate of the MD Anderson Cancer Center, entering into the 6th year of our highly successful collaboration. Clinical best care practices are completely aligned with treatment protocols established by MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
The location is ideal and in close proximity to Philadelphia, New York City, the Jersey shore and its beaches, Baltimore, and Washington DC.
