Facility Information Facility: GSS ND Mandan Sunset Location: Mandan, ND Address: 1011 Boundary Street Northwest, Mandan, ND 58554, USA Shift: 12 Hours - Day Shifts Job Schedule: Part-time Weekly Hours: 24.00 Salary Range: $20.00 - $28.00 Job Summary The Medication Assistant (MA) acts as a caregiver, delivering resident-focused nursing care and daily living support to assigned individuals under the guidance of a charge nurse. This role requires knowledge of and the ability to provide age-appropriate care that addresses both the physical and psychological needs of residents according to their care plans. Key responsibilities include: Assisting with essential health care tasks such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and undressing. Obtaining and documenting vital signs while offering psycho-social support and personal care. Helping residents with mobility, including transferring, repositioning, and walking, using proper techniques and equipment. Facilitating food preparation and dining experiences, ensuring a positive atmosphere for residents during meals. Administering prescribed medications as directed by a licensed nurse, adhering to state regulations. Documenting care outcomes, medication administration, and any changes in resident conditions. Collecting non-invasive body fluid samples and vital signs. Providing housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living environments. Supporting wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation. Engaging in departmental committees and task forces as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) is preferred but not mandatory. Minimum age of 18 is preferred. Previous experience as a clinical or nursing assistant in long-term care is advantageous. Completion of annual department-specific competency testing and maintenance of continuing education credits, with a minimum of 12 hours required each year based on state guidelines. Possession of all necessary department-specific certifications. A valid driver's license and auto insurance may be required, depending on the role. State-Specific Requirements: Iowa: Must have Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from the State Board of Nursing, maintained throughout employment. Completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course is required after obtaining CNA certification. Minnesota: Nursing assistant certification is required, along with completion of a 75-hour course and registration with the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry. Successful completion of a state-approved Trained Medication Assistant course is also necessary. North Dakota: Requires CNA certification from the State Board of Nursing, which must be maintained. Completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course is required after obtaining CNA certification. Medication Assistant I certification is needed for Assisted Living or Basic Care facilities, while Medication Assistant II certification is required for skilled nursing facilities. South Dakota: Successful completion of the state-approved Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course is necessary, with maintenance of CMA certification through the State Board of Nursing.
