Job Description:
MedStar Health, a leading not-for-profit healthcare organization
in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region, is seeking a dedicated Health
Plan Pharmacist to join our team. This role involves managing the
medication therapy and overall pharmaceutical care for patients
within our health plan. The successful candidate will ensure
optimal drug therapy by coordinating with healthcare providers and
patients, maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements,
and contributing to the development of medication-related policies
and education for our health plan members. Evaluate physician
medication orders for appropriateness and provide drug information.
Assist with formulary management including therapeutic interchange
and medication usage evaluation. Review and manage prior
authorization requests, and verify patient eligibility for specific
medication therapies. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to
manage and implement therapeutic plans. Educate patients and
healthcare providers about drug indications, therapeutics, and side
effects. Ensure regulatory compliance and quality assurance in all
aspects of pharmacy operations. Strong knowledge of pharmacology
and pharmacotherapeutics. Ability to analyze complex information
and make medication-related decisions. Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills. Proficiency with electronic health record
(EHR) systems and pharmacy information systems. Medical Insurance
Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Current
Pharmacist licensure in D.C., Maryland, or Virginia. Board
Certification in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) or equivalent
preferred.
