aviation vision, this is the job for you! -The Systems Engineer
Applies comprehensive system engineering principles to support the
investigation, analysis, planning, design, development,
implementation, testing, and evaluation of NAS equipment and
procedures. This would include automation, communications,
navigation and surveillance elements of the NAS. Reviews and
prepares engineering and technical analysis reports, and other
technical and safety documentation. May analyze, design, develop,
implement and test software related to engineering or functional
requirements of NAS and associated support systems. Drafts
system/safety project plans, justifications, guidelines, and
controls. Recommends development and design changes to improve
quality of products and/or procedures. Provides expertise in the
transition of legacy systems to modernized systems. Systems
engineers with appropriate expertise will support all aspects of
FAA safety management activities involving measures to mitigate
hazards or reduce risks to an acceptable level, verification that
mitigation measures are incorporated into product design and
implementation, and assessment of residual risk and any other
safety related activities. -Duties will include, but are not
limited to:Support the ongoing design, development, deployment, and
maintenance, including:Requirements developmentSoftware design,
development, test, and deployment Provide input to requirements,
architecture, and designProvide Subject Matter Expertise to other
existing and emerging programs within the FAAReview and develop
documentation to include, but not limited to: requirements
documents, interface description documents, training material,
technical instruction material, maintenance plansKeep capability
information sources (capability web pages, NAS Service
-Registry/Repository) up-to-dateHold and document regular meetings
for various projectsConvey requirements for, and enter and track
orders for infrastructure services and resourcesParticipate in
TIMsPrepare and review program technical documentationConduct
vendor technical proposal evaluation -Work Location: William J.
Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City, NJ
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or
related field. 9+ years of experience required.Software development
experience using JavaScript, or PHP, or PythonSofware development
with REST APIS and related technologiesExperience configuring and
troubleshooting COTS software running on Linux, Red Hat Enterprise
Linux preferredExperience working in a Agile development
environmentExperience in the use of SVN, Git, and/or other
configuration management softwareFamiliarity with PKI concepts and
implementationsDesired Qualifcations:Experience using automation
tools such as Ansible, Chef, PuppetExperience with supporting
systems in the FAA NASExperience with PKIExperience with
implementation of Enterprise security controls including Enterprise
Authentication and Authorization capabilities??
