We recognize that people with diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives fuel our growth and enrich our global culture.We are looking for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team oriented environment, likes to be challenged, and values the opportunity to make a difference.The Scientist II position will be responsible for development of new soup product designs from concept to commercialization of base innovation, renovation, cost optimization and quality initiatives.- The individual will work independently with cross functional partners to lead development of products to ensure successful delivery within nutrition, manufacturing, cost, ingredient and time- constraints.- You must possess a strong knowledge of technical principles, product commercialization processes and be able to apply that knowledge towards designing new products or reformulating existing products.In this role you will report to the Senior Manager Research & Development - Soup.- Principal Accountabilities

  • CommunicationEssential responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
    • Work with technical and business teams to complete risk assessment and technical briefs.
    • Demonstrate organization and planning skills.- Help in the development and execution of project timelines, which includes contingency planning.
    • Leverage vendor capabilities or engage our internal technical team, where appropriate, to expand formulation possibilities, research new ingredients, product technologies and/or increase speed to market.- Work with vendors/technical team to research new ingredients, product technologies, and/or processes to develop unique and innovative products.
    • Partnering with S&PG (Sensory & Product Guidance) / CCID (Consumer & Customer Insights Division) to gain consumer insight to inform product proposition, design, and desired claims.
    • Develop prototypes to support concept and ideation exploratory work.-
    • Reformulate based upon consumer direction.
    • Formulate products for scale-up.-
    • Conduct trials in the Pilot plant or manufacturing facilities to assess manufacturing capability and consumer acceptability.
    • Interface product design with various nutrition guidelines, and cost constraints.
    • Extensive knowledge of ingredients and food systems.
    • Work with Process Development & Supply Chain to identify internal or external manufacture needs.
    • Demonstrate flexibility and agility to react rapidly to change in project scope.
    • Ability to work with support groups and functions effectively in a team environment.
    • Good problem-solving skills.- With guidance determine the root cause problem and execute effectively on solutions.
    • Develop awareness of industry developments and purse ingredient, product, or technology advances for application to new and innovative product initiatives.------We are looking for the following abilities and skills:
      • Minimum:------------ Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or related field
      • Preferred:------------ Master's degree in Food Science or related field.
      • Strong project management skills.-
      • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience preferably in commercializing products/processes in manufacturing environment.
      • Knowledge of consumer testing methodologies and experimental design.
      • Ability to work with ambiguity and seek creative solutions.
      • Highly effective team player, willing to contribute in a wide variety of areas.
      • Strong planning and organizing skills.
      • Good oral and written communications as well as presentation skills are required.
      • Computer skills including basic fluency in Microsoft Office, database, and internet tools.Working Conditions:
        • The work exposes the employee to heat and hot food products, coolers, and freezers requiring the use of personal protective equipment.
        • Physical ability to handle weights of approximately thirty pounds.--
        • Ability to walk/stand up at times for up to - of the workday.
        • Willingness and ability to taste and evaluate a wide range of food products and ingredients.
