Short Description

Fluent in English and preferably Spanish.

1-3 years experience working in a healthcare office setting (experience working in a Camden medical office preferred).

Competent in basic computer skills; knowledge of using an electronic health records system required.

Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work well with people of various backgrounds, ethnicities, and life experiences.

Ability to take direction, follows through with tasks, and work independently.

Flexibility, optimism, and a cooperative working style.

Familiarity of Camden and service agencies/organizations serving Camden residents a plus.

This position requires significant time spent in the ED

Experience Required

Performs outreach activities to empower members of the targeted communities to access HIV counseling, testing and related health services. Conducts HIV prevention education, counseling, testing and referrals for patients seeking health services in the Emergency Department as well as for members of the community. For clients' with a positive test result, the Outreach Worker will provide case management services to ensure linkage to appropriate health care.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent; Undergraduate degree preferred.

License/Certification Requirements

HIV Counseling Certification successful completion required within 6 months of employment
