We recognize that people with diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives fuel our growth and enrich our global culture.We are looking for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team oriented environment, likes to be challenged, and values the opportunity to make a difference.Director of Transportation:General Summary:This position leads the Transportation function for Campbell M&B division including the contracting, execution, and performance of all inbound, interplant, and outbound freight. -The Director, Transportation Operations is a critical role in the Logistics function and broader Supply Chain organization as it responsible for delivering breakthrough cost savings, elevated customer service performance, and strengthening the effectiveness of our relationships with our Transportation carriers and partners. --This position will be responsible for the overall Strategy Development and Operations Performance in Transportation for all finished / non-finished goods for Campbell's M&B division. -This entails setting direction for the entire Transportation Team, being the primary thought leader for innovations in mode, special equipment choices, sourcing strategies, and identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships. The Transportation team is a blend of insourced Campbell's / outsourced strategic partner resources, and this role must foster a culture of collaboration, partnership, and continued investment in organizational capability. -The Director will be accountable for leading best practices identification / reapplication in the overall work processes, analytics, delivery methods, service, and sustainability efforts, as well as leading the development and execution of specific cost savings projects across the network. -The Director will play a key role in the financial controls process, including SOX compliance and audits, timely revenue recognition performance, and leading the Transportation AOP (Annual Operating Plan) development and subsequent cost performance. -The Director must have substantial leadership, project management, collaboration, and communication skills, and will lead continuous improvement efforts on a combined spend pool of nearly $300MM.The successful candidate will be the architect of the Transportation Strategy Plans, and will lead team engagement and talent management efforts to develop leadership, in-depth problem solving, business process analytics and project management skills, while role modeling a "Challenger Mindset" culture across the broader Supply Chain organization.Primary Responsibilities: -Develop, lead, and support the strategic plan for the Transportation Organization, driving overall logistics cost savings and growing strategic carrier / 3PL partnerships.-Duties include:1.-- -Strategy

  • -Build and maintain the overall strategy plan and associated deliverables for USR's Transportation function, including in / outsourcing, carrier consolidation strategy (right sizing), mode, carrier type (asset, broker, IMC, temp controlled), systems / IT requirements, and fuel management.
  • -Lead best practices identification, vetting, and share-and-reapply, with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Ensures solid linkages exist between internal functions and partners, including Legal, Global Procurement, SC Planning, CS/L, Sales, Plant / DC Operations, and Finance, as well as Campbell Snacks networks, via Strat Plan engagement2.-- -Commercial
    • Set strategy for Transportation / Logistics network optimization, including contracts and strategic interfaces, with both Legal and Global Procurement teams.
    • Accountable for the Transportation freight bid / procurement process, primarily focusing on the delivery of internal business requirements and those outlined by the Customer Supply Chain organization, while concurrently evaluating the impact / recommendation of rates for both delivered ("We Ship") and customer pick-up (CPU) freight.
    • Management of carrier relationships and performance over a range of key performance indicators, such as on time performance, load acceptance, and cost (including localized fleet and shuttle providers), and facilitates their performance management via Service Level Agreements (SLA's)
    • Corporate owner for the commercial relationship / business execution of the Transportation Management System (TMS) and partnership with Transplace, including base functionality, continuous improvement development / mods, and freight payment management.3.-- -Technical / Operational
      • Be the "expert" in Transportation law and regulatory requirements, industry trends and best practices, technology solutions, customs brokers and cross border, and customer requirements, proactively managing risks and opportunities in each
      • Systems - Accountable for the overall performance and management of TMS functions, including reporting, payment, organization and system interfaces, carrier set-up (compliance and training), storage / plant location mapping, routing guide development, and custom reporting / dashboards, among others. -Deep understanding and knowledge of WMS technology and innovation. -Accountable for the successful design (business requirements), testing, and validation of business required modifications spanning the TMS, WMS (Red Prairie), and SAP.
      • Transportation Lead for the monthly lBP process, including guidance on sourcing decisions (freight cost related and lead time), market impacts (capacity), and warehouse implications (labor and inventory performance).
      • Supports the Business Continuity Planning (BCP) process for the department, ensuring protocols and countermeasures are in place that minimize the impact of potential operational disruptions and risk.4.-- -Financial
        • With F&A, leads the development of the annual Transportation budget process (AOP), quarterly LE's, and monthly budget variance analysis, directing the Logistics Analysts on modeling and cost reconciliations.
        • -Management of multiple cost savings projects (enablers) - scope definition, planning, documentation / vetting, timeline execution, and leadership of cross functional teams
        • Analytical / Organizational
        • Leads the ideation process for the design, development, and implementation of optimized operating scenarios (Transportation related) for cost comparisons and strategy development
        • Ability to quickly learn and use a variety of system tools. Individual will need to develop significant expertise in multiple systems that are critical to analyzing and influencing the daily Transportation business. Direct experience with SAP, WMS / Red Prairie, TMS, and / or other enterprise systems is required.
        • Primary point of contact for strategic and operational plans, and provides input to / takes input from other functions, for the strategic plan and broader operational performance.-
        • Coach, develop, train, and lead a team of Transportation Managers, Planners, and Analysts, in the delivery of the Transportation team's business objectives, also providing insight into the broader Logistics and Supply Chain succession planning process.5.-- -Results / KPI's
          • Service - On time performance (RAD), OTIF, and on-time ship metrics-
          • Financial - Budget performance: Cost per case, % of sales, $$ for transfer, inbound, and customer freight, CPU rate allowance, routing guide compliance, vehicle fill, IM conversion, and fuel
          • Commercial - Weekly results report outs, monthly carrier performance reviews, quarterly face to face business reviews, semi-annual review of rates and contracts, executing mini-bids and contract revisions as needed.Minimum Requirements:
            • Bachelor's degree required; MBA/MS preferred. - -
            • Minimum of 10+ years' experience working in the Transportation industry, with Planning, Distribution and other Logistics proficiencies preferred. -Demonstrated understanding of end-to-end supply chain strategy is fundamental to this challenging role. -
