Job Description:
Holtec International, a turnkey supplier of technologies for the
nuclear and fossil power industries, is seeking to add an
experienced mechanical/civil/structural analyst to its Applied
Mechanics Group with opportunities to contribute to Holtec's first
of a kind small modular reactor (SMR-160) design. The senior
analyst would be called upon to analyze metallic, reinforced
concrete and soil-subgrade supported structures.Typical analyses
include:
Static and dynamic finite element
modeling and analyses (FEA) using ANSYSDrop and impact (e.g.,
missile and aircraft) analyses and target response using
LS-DYNASimulation of the seismic response of freestanding
structures in air or submerged in waterStatic and dynamic analyses
of large reinforced concrete structuresSoil-structure interaction
(SSI) analyses with freestanding and/or anchored structuresBeam and
plate stress calculations using established principles of strength
of materialsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicant must possess a BS in
mechanical/civil/structural engineering with a minimum of 7 years
of experience. MS will count for 2 years of experience and Ph.D.
will count for 4 years of experience (experience from MS and Ph.D.
cannot be combined)Familiarity with standard industry and design
codes/manuals such as ASME, ASCE, ACI and AISCMust possess
excellent credentials in principles of solid mechanicsMust possess
excellent technical writing and communication skillsDESIRED SKILLS
Academic or industrial experience in
the latest stress analysis codes such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, STAAD.Pro
and GT STRUDLPrior nuclear industry experience including
interactions with NRC or other regulatory authorities -Powered by
