Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Histology Technician performs all laboratory procedures as required according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures
Core Responsibilities
--- Performs tests in a timely manner. Maintains standard in stat testing-both in and out patient.
--- Has ability to coordinate simultaneous tests/procedures accurately.
--- Performs and documents QC accurately.
--- Consistently determines acceptability/integrity of specimens.
--- Maintains safe/clean work area.
--- Produces and reports accurate results.
--- Performs maintenance troubleshooting effectively.
--- Correctly and safely embeds, cuts, labels and stains tissue specimens.
--- Correctly coverslips and labels all slides.
--- Accurately files all slides and blocks.
--- Consistently demonstrates teamwork.
--- Prioritizes workload based on volume
Minimum Requirements
--- Associates Degree and HT (ASCP) or HLT (ASCP) Certification, or eligible
--- Intermediate computer skills, excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
--- Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods with the ability to lift, push and pull
--- Knowledge of medical terminology, as well as computer proficiency, with excellent customer
--- service, interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience
--- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
--- 2 to 4 years of experience as a Histology technician
--- Experience in immunohistochemical staining and Cytology Preparation
