Description Westchester is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Senior Underwriter to drive growth in our Digital team, focused on the Northeast region. This role leverages Westchester’s full suite of binding Property and Casualty products to craft tailored solutions for our clients, in a rapidly evolving market. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commercial multi-line underwriting acumen and demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, and maintain a focus on both profitability and growth. This position will report to our Philadelphia office. Major Duties & Responsibilities: Fundamentals of coverage, terms and conditions. Ability to offer coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the Company while meeting the needs of the customer. Risk Assessment. Ability to identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls. Ability to select risk based on exposure and risk analysis. Ability to analyze claims and quantify losses. Takes ownership for an assigned territory and communicates underwriting decisions quickly and effectively with assigned wholesale brokers Develop and maintain strategic relationships with Business Development Leaders and Regional Underwriting Leaders to enhance profitability and growth within the assigned territory Marketing and communications. Ability to sell and negotiate to achieve bottom line profitability for the Company. Ability to make presentations and communicate articulately. Ability to base communications on strategic thinking. Ability to manage producer strategy. Travel as needed for client meetings, training sessions, and industry events Create, implement, and execute strategic plans in partnership with Regional Underwriting Leaders to drive business results Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years experience in multi-line underwriting (general liability and property) within the Small or Lower Middle Market space Must possess a strong commercial multi-line underwriting acumen with the ability to handle and make rapid decisions on small business risks Demonstrate tenacious problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to change as the company advances its strategic vision Strong sales acumen, effective communication and creative marketing skills are critical; must be able to demonstrate success with managing tight time frames, high volumes of work, agency relationships and positioning Westchester’s strengths within Digital Exhibit a strong entrepreneurial attitude needed to build a high performing territory A strong track record of service orientation is required. Additional Information: Occasional travel as needed to maintain and grow customer relationships Existing wholesale relationships in the Northeast are a plus
